Unusually high traffic from DevAddr 7500C87A

Hello everyone,

As a newcomer to this forum, there is a quick question regarding a recent observation.

On the gateway in Plauen, Germany (“plauen-ostvorstadt”, EUI: 88A29EFFFEA8A71A), a specific node has been standing out for a while due to very high traffic.

Here are the technical details:

  • DevAddr: 7500C87A

  • Behavior: Constant CONFIRMED_UP messages every minute

  • Settings: Spreading Factor 10 (SF10)

This behavior continuously demands downlinks and occupies airtime.

What is the standard procedure in the TTN community for such cases? Is there generally a need for action, or is this kind of behavior simply tolerated on the network?

Thanks for any feedback!

This will impact the gateway, cause it to relay the uplink to the network server which, unless there is a peering arrangement (I doubt it), will promptly drop it.

We don’t filter uplinks, but if we did, it might not be totally unreasonable to have the gateway drop the uplink.

You can do three things.

  1. Ask the DevAddr block owners, Minol ZENNER Connect GmbH, to investigate.
  2. Do some radio directional finding with a portable gateway & Yagi antenna. When you start to hone in on the location, buy this outfit for when you knock on their door.
  3. Ask the radio authorities to look in to the matter.

I’d try all three, starting with the middle one first
